Madelynn's school program

Madelynn had a small part in a program at school today. Here is a little video I got of it. It was too dark to get any good pictures. They all look terrible.

Also, a few random pics from this month.

Roxy today. She is almost 4 months. She's getting huge.

Madelynn with a lot of balloons.

Spring flowers

The trees are blooming, the flowers are coming up, but the weather has still been crappy! What's up with that? It froze the other night. Travis doesn't think our apple tree is going to get apples this year because of it.

Second Camping Trip

Travis told me some good news on Tuesday, that he'd have Thursday through Sunday off of work. I was very excited, as he has been working a whole lot during the long wall move. I asked him if he wanted to go camping, since he didn't get to camp for Easter. He did. I got everything packed up Thursday. Friday after school we headed out about 2, when school got out. After we got off the highway, I asked Travis if I could tow the trailer, so I could practice. I was nervous, but it wasn't too bad. :) Shortly after we arrived there Kim and Jared showed up. After everything was set up Jared was throwing wood out of the back of the truck and Roxy wasn't listening to everyone telling her to move and got hit by a log. I put her in the car with me, so she'd be out of the way. Ava was also in the car, because she fell down. After a few minutes Ava started screaming that Roxy was bleeding. I looked around the car and there was blood everywhere! Turns out the wood hit her foot and made it bleed. I couldn't believe how much a dog could bleed from such a little cut. Hopefully she learned her lesson. Our friend Vicki showed up about 6 with her grandkids and her daughter Crystal. It was nice to meet her. Travis made everyone chili for dinner.

Saturday the girls had their dance competition, so we got up early and headed home to get them ready. We spent most of the day at the high school and headed back to camp. It was raining pretty bad on the way back, but was ok when we got to camp. Vicki told us the wind and rain were so bad they couldn't see anything out their trailer windows. We had a few hours of nice weather and then it started lightning, so we cleaned up the tent and some chairs and went to Kim's trailer to watch a movie. Just a few minutes later it started to hail really bad. It hailed for about an hour, I think. Then it rained for a few minutes and then turned to snow. It was 8 o'clock by this time, so Kim and I decided we better make dinner. She got the fire going again and we made hot dogs and brats for everyone. The rain and snow stopped, so the kids came out to play for awhile, but they were too cold to play, so they asked to go to bed! The adults stayed up chatting for awhile and it turned out to be a pretty nice night.

Sunday I didn't want to go home. It is relaxing to camp. The weather was pretty nice too. The kids and dads climbed some rocks and went on a few hikes. The clouds started to look dark, so we headed home. I am happy to say we went home the way we came last summer when we had sway and everything was perfect. I was very nervous about it and made Travis a little cranky, but it was great!

Pictures are here.

Dance competition videos

This weeekend was a busy one. Friday night we went out camping, but the girls had a dance competition, so we came back to town on Saturday for the day. Madelynn danced at 11:45 and 12:25. Ava didn't dance until 2:15. She was so anxious to dance. It was cute. Neither of them were nervous at all. I am so glad. I hate getting in front of people. I think they both did really good.

  • First video is Madelynn doing tap. She is on the far left as you are looking at your screen.

  • This one is Madelynn doing ballet. She's second from the right.

  • Here's Ava doing her dance. She is in the back row, middle, on the black line at the beginning.
This has taken about 3 hours to upload, so I will write about camping tomorrow.

The weather is getting nicer!

I told the girls if they cleaned up their mess in the living room they could have a water balloon fight. It only took a few hours for them to get done, but they finally did. They had a lot of fun!

Also, the girls hair in the tub. lol. They wanted to see how long it was. (yes, they are in their swimsuits, they wanted to wear them in the bath.)

Roxy's 14 weeks and life

Roxy was 14 weeks Friday. She seems to be slowing down on the growth, but maybe it's just because I see her every day.

Travis is still on longwall move. I feel like they are never going to be done. The hourly people are going back to their regular shifts now. I wish he would. I was hoping he would get Sunday off, but it's not happening. It would be at least a little ok if I knew he was getting paid extra for working so much, but he doesn't. Madelynn's been really whiny the last few weeks and I think it's because she never gets to see dad.

We had a birthday party to go to today. It was at the bowling alley. Ava did good, she got a 106 and beat all of the other older kids she was playing with. :)

Our house in Wyoming is going up for auction on May 21st. I am excited. I hope someone buys it, so that we can finally be rid of it. It's making our lives very stressful right now.

My back has amazingly been feeling better. I walked all the way to the school last week with it only hurting a little bit. It hurt more on the way home, but nothing like it used to. I am so glad. I like walking to get Madelynn from school (maybe because I always rode the bus)and it sucked when it hurt so much to do it. The weather for the next 10 days looks really awesome! I'm hoping we can try to go camping again next weekend, even though the girls have a dance competition on Saturday. Travis can't get phone calls from work if we're in the desert. ;)

Easter 2009

Wednesday

Kim and I decided to head out camping in the desert on Wednesday instead of Thursday to save our spot. Madelynn had school from 8 to 11, so while she was there I went to physical therapy. I had to run to the store after that, then we went to get Madelynn, went shopping for food for camping, titled the trailer (thanks Kim!), and headed out. I was very nervous, since the last time we went camping we had a very bad trailer sway incident. I am happy to report that getting there went great! Travis had no problems. The girls and I rode with Kim since we were nervous. This was Kim's first time towing her trailer too and she did great. Travis helped us get set up and was on his way. Kim and I made the kids hot dogs for dinner and then played some cards. After the kids went to bed Kim, Sierra, and I sat around the fire for awhile. We headed to bed around 11:30 and as I was coming out of the bathroom I heard Sierra yelling to me that they were stuck inside their trailer. I didn't know what to expect. lol! I climbed out of the camper and walked over and opened the door. Apparently the doorknob broke, so the handle wasn't turning on the inside. Neither of us ended up getting much sleep because Kim was worried something was going to happen and they wouldn't be able to get out of their trailer. My leg was killing me all night long, so I didn't sleep much either.

Thursday

We came back to town early, so Kim could get something worked out with her door. She picked me up at about 1:30 and I went with her to get her new tattoo, which turned out nice. When we went back out to camp I brought some tools, so we could hook up a new door on her trailer. Jared had found one earlier in the day. Kim measured it and it was a perfect fit across, so we went to work getting the old door off. It didn't take too long. It was actually pretty easy. We got the new door on and put a few screws back in before we noticed that it was about 6" too short on top. lol!! It was pretty funny. We gave up and made the kids dinner. Kim talked to Penny and decided to put the old door back on for now. Penny and Maynerd arrived after dark with their friend Denise. We sat around talking to them for awhile and went to bed.

Friday

The kids played most of the day. About half way through the day I noticed my fridge's check light was on. I thought maybe I was out of propane. I had Maynerd look at it and I was, so Kim and I ran to Huntington to get it filled! I'm glad somewhere was open, I would not have wanted to deal with no heat like last Easter. Friday night us adults left the kids with Sierra in Kim's trailer to watch a movie and went over to visit Dean and Lee at their camp. I rode with Penny on her 4 wheeler and on the way there she kept saying there has to be a way to cut across this field to get back faster. So, on the way back we decided to take a road we saw. It was ok at first, then it got bumpier with bigger and bigger ruts. We stopped and Maynerd and Kim went ahead. We were following and then they turned back and said there was no way across to the road because there was a canal. We headed back the way we came and had to go back to the main road. It was quite the adventure for me being the chicken that I am. I had fun. :) Everyone stayed up late hanging by the fire that night.

Saturday

Saturday the kids played most of the day and later that night while cooking dinner we realized that Kim was out of propane! It turned out one of the kids flipped a switch on the stove and so her pilot was on and drained her tanks. Since it was later at night and everything was closed for the weekend, she had to chance it with very little propane. She made it through the weekend with heat though, so that was good! Saturday night the kids went to bed early. We stayed up later waiting for Jared to hide Easter eggs for an egg hunt for the kids. It was kind of miserable because it rained most of the night and I had stomach issues.

Sunday
Jared and Travis got to come out, and Dean and Diane came for a visit. Jared made dinner for everyone and that was nice. Penny, Maynerd, and Wendi decided to stay another night, so Kim and Jared decided to stay too. I ended up driving Travis home and coming back about 10 at night to stay one more night. We ended up staying up really late just having fun. At 6 in the morning my batteries died in the trailer, so I had to get up after 4 hours of sleep because my CPAP wouldn't work. That was not very nice. We packed up early and headed out Monday so Jared could make it to work in time. I pulled the trailer home from the waste dump. I am thinking I might have Travis let me do it a little more each time, so I can get used to it and do it for myself without being a chicken someday.

Pictures are here, for some reason I can't get the link to post right, so you will have to copy and paste it.

(They are out of order since the laptop battery died while I was loading them.)

It's been awhile.

I have a lot of pictures from Easter that I am working on posting. I swear I am working on it. I tried last night and the battery on the laptop died before I finished.

Just an update.

Not a lot has been going on here. Ava's on spring break until the 14th. That will be nice. I am excited for sleeping in! Roxy went to the vet last week and she's 16 pounds and 5 ounces now. That's up from 5 pounds 14 ounces at her first appointment 5 weeks ago! I am going to physical therapy for my back. It is going good. He has me doing a lot now. I have a feeling I'm going to be sore tomorrow! It seems to be helping though. I can stand for longer periods of time without it hurting. Walking still hurts, but I am sure it will come around. I hope so! I am tired of it hurting.
